I've been to many science conferences and workshops and listened to many experts speak about fascinating topics, all of which I promptly forgot. One of the most memorable of these forgotten speakers was a "forensic entomologist." He talked about, um… Life cycles and, uh… I dunno. I'm guessing it was creepy. I think there was a slide show, too. Anyway, I always remember that job title because it seems so specific and so particularly quirky. Insects are creepy things, so insects in corpses make for a unique date.
Of course, if you are a quirky person and meet a special someone who humors your interests (even if he/she doesn't share them), you probably have a keeper – or a serial killer (which is good news for larvae). ;-)
I had fun in Texas. I met a few cool DDers and spoke with talented and charismatic folks at DWEX. I also hung out in Fort Worth with Amanda and JustNoPoint, and I managed to get two souvenirs, a fortune from Zoltar and a sunburn. ;) Oh, and a SkyMall Catalog. My dad has been getting a kick out of it.
I led a canoe trip Saturday and got a couple more odd sunburn spots. My job at the park is drawing to an end (alas, it is seasonal). Just one more weekend. I'm applying for jobs all over the place. No luck yet, but at least the park job will be here for me next summer if I can't find anything more permanent.
–Oh! And my big sister is engaged!!! YAY!!!!! When I'm unemployed, I'm gonna go visit and help her plan wedding stuff. (Or be her sounding board while SHE plans it. XD )
