The back covers of this comic book series were conceived of as a series of fake car ads. They were all designed as the ultimate luxury cars for a society that worships conspicuous consumption, vicious opulence, and empty celebrity.
This car was named after Ashley Bickerton, who was a prominent artist during the "post-modern" art movement of the 1980s. Even within the context of that decade, which I consider the nadir of western art, his work stood out to me as being particularly loathsome.
(This car ad features a tongue-in-cheek cameo appearance by my girlfriend at the time)
