Okay, guys, I really feel the need to justify the lateness in my recent pages.

As you've probably read in previous page notes, all pages since the beginning of this comic up to the end of last chapter (save a couple title pages done in photoshop) were drawn and painted in Open Canvas, a lightweight program, very good for sketching and quick-coloring. GoD's style owes a lot to it.

Problem is - I've outgrown Open Canvas. It just doesn't appeal to me anymore; I don't feel like using it, I don't feel like drawing or coloring in it. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, I'm just sick of using the same program since -quick check- november 2006. GoD pages are usually quick to draw and quick to color, but since OC has completely lost its appeal to me, it's a chore just to start drawing.

Well, as an artist, I can't be having with that. Once chapter 8 was over, I decided to switch to Manga Studio, a program which is HEAVEN for designing comic pages and dialogue balloons. It also has a fairly simple coloring interface, which meant I didn't risk making GoD look too clean or smooth like you're tempted to in photoshop. Well, after coloring 2 pages in Manga Studio, I can tell you this much: it sucks for painting. Back to the drawing board.

I recently got two sketching programs - sketchbook (autodesk) and sketchpad (corel) - which are awesome for quick scribbly art and messy painting. Yay, let's try them! Except sketchbook flattens all psd files you open in it unless you upgrade to pro (BULLSHIT I SAY), and sketchpad… well, part of this page was colored in sketchpad. Eventually I just gave up and fired up photoshop. Big files are a pain to handle and the program has a nasty habit of crashing right when you're getting your groove on. :/ And as I said, Manga Studio makes page designing so much better, I have to at least plan the file on it anyway.

So, all this poking around and experimenting with different programs means I'm completely out of my old update pace, which is quite disheartening, which makes it harder to get up to speed… and so on, plus other RL issues. So… bear with me as I get things sorted, please? Or you can read my other webcomic, Sinful, in the meantime. It's flat-colored and cell-shaded, so it tends to get updated a little more often.
