[515] Exploration: Trump Card

I nearly wrote myself into a corner and barely managed to get out. I did my best not to go all deus ex machina, I guess I have sort of done it. Well, I guess it all comes down to your opinion.

I've been thinking about how for the past year I've been trying to move webcomics into becoming my job rather than just a hobby. Oh sure, it'd still be a hobby, but I would love to make money off of them. Also, I think if I had a webcomic that was my job, I'd most likely do as much work on it as I could.

See, I've always had this idea that if you are getting paid to do something, you had better damn well do it. It doesn't matter if you don't like it or not. You're being paid to do the work, so you should do it. Of course, there are many who do not share my philosophy, and so tend to do things half-assed.

Let's look at what I would be doing if Warriors of the Night became my full-time job. First off, I would make sure Jayfri had done enough pages so that I could update three times a week for a month, before I ran out of comics. And that would become the schedule. Then, I'd pay someone to set up a website and a shop so that I could sell shirts and mugs and hats, but it would be more focussed on books, posters, prints and maybe a few figurines for people to put on their desks. Lastly, I'd set up a donation bar so that whenever people donated up, say, $750, there would be maybe 5 updates a week for a month.

But David, you may be saying, that seems like too much work. And you have all those other comics as well. Well with me, the problem is that I have this strange way of thinking where I just need to be busy all the time. I don't know why, but I just cannot sit still. This causes me to pile up my workload until I'm near the point where most people would break from stress. However, I wouldn't, because I can take it.

Oh well, the dream lives on. Have a good weekend everyone.

Until next time
