Been a while since I typed a rant here. Might as well make it a good one. This time it will be about webcomics generally. Mainly, the pros.

The list of people who do this thing for a living may seem short, but it still surprises me. Jeph Jacques, Scott Kurtz, Tim Buckley, Fred Gallagher, R.K. Milholland etc. What surprises me even more is when these people forget that this is their job.

Now, anyone who reads these rants knows it's my ambition to do this thing full time. And while I haven't been good at updating lately, that is because, unlike these guys, my readers don't pay me for it. And no, that's not a demand for money. I'm just saying that GG is still a hobby, as well as it still has less than 50 readers.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that when you have a job, you do it, and fun is set aside for later. If someone gave me money to draw my own comic, no matter how crap it was, you can bet I would have an update every day. However, there are many out there who do have this circumstance, and yet fail to complete the task.

I cannot stand these people who are being paid to laze about. Yeah, sure, they're probably also getting t-shirts ready, advertising, etc. but why promote something that isn't being delivered? Yeah, Fred Gallagher has a kid, but so does Chris Hazelton, along with several other jobs, and yet Misfile still updates every weekday.

So yeah, to those of you who find yourselves doing a hobby full time, make sure you actually do it.
