Role models- Rachel Louise Carson (1907 – 1964) was a marine biologist and nature writer whose writings are credited with advancing the global environmental movement. Later she became active in conservation and the environmental problems of pesticides.

Her work Silent spring has been suggested as a leading inspiration to many garssroots evironmental organisations.
