Heron of Alexandria (c. 10â€“70 AD). was an ancient Greek mathematician and engineer from Alexandria. Some say he was the greatest experimenter of the first century AD, and he is an icon of greek experimental sciences

He created the first documented steam-powered device, the aeolipile, as well as a windwheel, one of the earliest examples of wind power.

He also created amazing special effects including an entirely mechanical play that ran for ten mins.
