Zero says…

What Hangman Sam means by the soul going to "worlds beyond" he's referring to anything after the death, whether it be purgatory, heaven, hell, reincarnation, simply nothing or anything. Of course, there maybe a high chance you'll become something after a Samhain feasts on you.

And why (and how) exactly does the mortal soul split into two? Who made it that way? The answer shall come…NEVER!
