1. The Mollies were both stupid and superstitious…
2. But smart enough to learn how to do the monotonous chores required to run the farm.
3. Farmer Fred had christened them "Mollies" in remembrance of his late wife, who had died while giving birth to their mutant son, Donnie. Donnie was born deformed, mentally retarded, and gigantic (weighing over 20 pounds!).
