Hawk and Flo's parents were bank robbers that stole the crown Jewels from the monarchy of their home planet Darnatz. The plan was to escape to Earth and Live in Bermuda to a life of Luxury; They're mother was caught by the police as they were trying to escape and their Dad raised Hawk and Flo on his own as a single parent. The Jewels themselves were actually worthless on Earth meaning that they went out of their way to steal for nothing. Hawk and Flo were 10 when their Dad died from his accident they decided to leave home to travel the galaxy so they took the treasure with them in the hope they could one day return the Jewels. ^^ upon returning the Jewels The king of Darnatz knighted them.
