OK, I could have put in a sound effect for panel 3, but if you've watched Star Trek at all you can probably HEAR that panel without one.

So, there's a lot of history to the name "Singh" in Star Trek history. When he was flying B-17 missions in WWII, series creator Gene Roddenberry met a pilot (possibly Chinese, though the name would indicate Indian) names Kim Noonien Singh. They became friends, but after the war Roddenberry lost track of him. While making Star Trek he renamed the villain of the episode Space Seed "Khan Noonien Singh" (the character was originally Nordic) in the hopes that his old friend would catch wind of it, see Roddenberry's name in the credits, and get in touch… but there was no response. Later, while making ST:TNG, he named Data's creator "Noonien Soong" in another attempt to catch his friend's attention, but again without success. Gene Roddenberry was never reunited with his old comrade in arms.
