So, I was designing "critter" and "humanoid" Zappi in parallel from the start. I knew I had to have some design elements that would carry over, and I hit on the tentacle/tail things early (if yer gonna call yer webcomic Hentai Action Theater ya gotta deliver some tentacle porn at some point, right?).

Those earliest critter-form Zappis just weren't working. Bu did some visual research, but focused on making sure Zappirat didn;t look too much like … that yellow electric rat. I dropped the scraggly Pogo-looking thing and started on trying to makle her cuddly… while specifically changing design elements (shape of head, shape of legs, etc.)

And it became obvious that humanoid Zappi would have to be less waifish and more cuddly as well.

Producing this webcomic for a pace of four updates a week takes a lot of time… and it's not cheap for me, what with paper, ink and pens (going all digital would be even more spendy).
