Reflexive movements are part of the lower cerebral of the brain, nearest to the spine. This is also called as our "reptilian" part of our brain because it resembles those of reptiles like crocodiles and snakes. A theory suggests that evolutionary timeline expands this reptilian sub-brain to further implement reflexive movements with a more thought pattern that is contemporary seen in mammals. This is why reflexes are faster than what the brain can process. Martial artists focus on learning the techniques with analysis and then incorporating it into "second nature" or manipulating their reflexes into that form. Therefore, martial artists isn't really "faster" or "quicker", they just trained their reflexes to have a better, efficient way of moving without the need for brain analysis.
