And here you get a nice look at cogito's upper "body". It's not ALL there is to it, but you'll see in due time.

Something I realized when drawing this page is that there's a nice cross-reference between cogito's appearance and the notion of the "Cartesian Theater". It wasn't planned, but it's a nice coincidence.

In a nutshell, the "Cartesian Theater" describes Descartes' notion that consciousness is basically a small man in your head, taking in your accumulated sense data. Of course, this leads to an infinite regress, as you'd have to assume that this "small man" would once again have another little guy in his head, ad infinitum. Anyway, Descartes is most famous for his "cogito ergo sum", his proof for the existence of his own consciousness (and consequently, his body etc.). That's where this A.I. got his name from - that's the part that was planned :P The part that WASN'T planned is that cogito is basically like the "small man", sitting in the space station and taking in all of the accumulated "sense data", as delivered on these monitors and through the cables.

I just thought that's a nice coincidence… but maybe that's just me ^_^

Fitz: Glad I could contribute to your brain meter. Me no play video/computer games these days T_T And regarding the "upper body", it really just means the upper part. Or, well, actually the whole thing will turn out to be more like a giant brain… in keeping with the "cogito" theme.
