A flashback to what happened off-screen in the first chapter. I think I already mentioned it somewhere, but at the time when I drew the scene where Kel drops the flashlight, I had no intention of ever narratively using the flashlight again. It was just meant to show that Kel had some interest in exploring the station's shafts, that he would expect cogito to save the day, and his frustration when cogito was unresponsive. Kel was supposed to simply "find" Kano in the shafts later while exploring. But while I was working on the first chapter, I had this idea that Kano could find the flashlight and bring it back. Which works SO much better, I think. The idea that Kano would "turn on the light" (beware see-through metaphors :P), as she does on the final page of chapter 2, also hails from before I thought about bringing the flashlight back. So, it all ended up fitting together perfectly.

By the way, I've been gone for a few days and am going to return today, late at night. Accordingly, I am only going to be able to reply to PQs or comments tomorrow. Just so you know~
