Lemniskate: I think it depends on whether you take diagnoses to be causal references or not. I mean, you could diagnose symptoms of "having died in a car crash" without meaning to say that someone actually died in a car crash. Maybe dying in a meteorite storm could lead to "died in a car crash" symptoms…

Genejoke #2: Right. But I do think humans aren't just emotionally attached to their survival. Survival is often the rational choice. In that sense, a computer's being attached to its survival shouldn't be too surprising.
