The creation story in Genesis is quite a bit different from what we have learned about the universe since it was written.
One thing that we know is, the universe is expanding. We have been able to trace the point of expansion back to a singularity about 13.7 billion years ago. AKA 13,700,000,000 years ago.
The start of this expansion is what we call “the big bang”
