El is the Supreme creator god of the Canaanite pantheon. He is one of the gods that the early Hebrews based their God on. In the Semitic language, el means “deity”, and elohim is the plural version of el. many Christian apologists point to Elohim being used to refer to God in some of the book of Genesis as evidence of the Trinity in the old testament. But I think it’s much more likely just a remnant of the vary early forms of the Jewish religion before it was a monotheistic religion.
