I didn’t realize till now but the Smackjeeves website is truly gone … like go…
The original owner of SmackJeeves sold the site to … I think NHN for some million-odd dollars
and NHN altered the website to be sort of like a clone of webtoons or tapas. Many WebComicers were not happy with the redesign and fled Smackjeeves as a result.
I wasn’t happy with the redesign either … I attempted to work with it at first to discover that it was … unworkable … and ended up joining the “Refujeeves”
In late August 2020 the site temporarily “region-locked” (man 2020 WAS the worst year ever). This was unbeknownst to me, I didn’t hear about this till now.
Finally, on November 3, 2020, the owner declared that the site would close on December 31. (again something I didn’t hear about till now)
I was sort of in the process of transferring the Hope for a Breeze comic from Smackjeeves to here and mirror sites like ComicFury … then discovered recently that Smackjeeves is literally gone and any comics that haven’t been transferred from it are basically lost … (including my own 🙁 )
I managed to get most pages off of the Smackjeeves website but looks like issues 5 to 10 are basically lost and so I’m going to have to see if I can dig them out of my archives … but It’s gonna take a while to do because of “life” maybe about another month or 2. And it may be another 3 or 4 months before all the issues are restored and uploaded to this site … (perhaps I should be using ComicFury as my primary host instead …)
