Yes, he is speaking French, Why? Because he's English. That wasn't helpfull, was it? As he says, he's from the British isles, specificaly the Lundonia area. Don't know where Londonia is? Its a 5th Century Kingdom in southern England. 5th century, think King Arthur. Joan was right when she said he was old. Not a few certuries old, but two thousand years old. Hence the French. Most of his mannerism are drawn from there. The bowing, the holding doors, and the French. The British Aristocracy and French Aristocracy intermaried and conquered each other over the folowing centuries, and most of the British nobles spoke French. Living through this time period, Drake would also learn French. For non-French speakers, he's nor saying anything important. Joan doesn't understand him and you don't need to either. Basicaly its "the girl with Joan of Arc's Name thinks that my name is stupid?" and "Ah, she doesn't understand, too bad."

He won't do this a lot, it was just brought on by the Jeanne d'Arc referance. It has also been two years since my last French class, so I would be greatful if anyone see's any mistakes to point them out.
