And Teddy continues to throw himself a pity party. The engraving on the ceiling of his bed/cubby hole says:

"May the nourishment of the earth be yours;
May the clarity of the light be yours;
May the fluency of the ocean be yours;
May the protection of the ancestors be yours,
And may you be buried in a casket made from the
wood of a century old oak I shall plant tomorrow.

year 87 of the Kent Empire

It's an old Irish blessing for newborns (lots of cultures got all mixed up during the shadows war and before, so these cross cultural things tend to pop up. The bottom "year 87 of the Kent Empire" is the year he was born. The irony of some of the blessings isn't cheering him up at all.

re Annhialator : I hope that since his night vision isn't making there be more actual light, he won't have the problem of light coming through his eyelids and preventing him from sleeping at least. We don't need him sleep deprived on top of everything else.
