whew, it looks like I'll at least be able to update once a week.

Drake seems confident, but he always does, and Teddy seems worried, but he always does.

So, New Kent started off as a small fort overlooking the harbor after the Shadows War. It's ideal position ment that it steadily grew over time into a regional power. The old fort has been remade into a palace (at the top of the hill) and while the current rulers maintain a bit of the fort structure as a symbol of their military power, it's not really functional anymore. Luckily cannons tend to be the heaviest artillery around and they are rare, expensive, and don't have the range to fire across the river, so would need to be on a ship to even get close to the fort. The palace is made in a later style than you're used to seeing in Hurrocks, more colonial, and the whole city's a bit of a missmash culturaly.

In terms of the tinted glass thing, glass requires certain kinds of sand, which is pretty heavy to transport, and glass itself is fragile. in olden times glass windows in houses were a sign of wealth, to the point that taxes were based on them. Coloring without messing with the transparency must also be difficult, so I'm guessing that tinted glass would be expensive. Trade routes can be complex because the chunks of land that Solifidians settled on aren't open to humans, but Gypsies can pass though ok, so they specialize on trading these sorts of luxury good.

but still, Drake needs to stop underestimating people.
