omg, page 300!

anyways, backgroundy stuff: George is quoting Revelation, in which Satan is depicted as a seven-headed red dragon which chases the earthly church (personified as a woman) and is battled by the faithful. This is sort of the basis for his rationale in attacking the dragons.

Also, in St George's myth he is the champion of Lady Una and i believe marries her after he defeats the dragon. George's story is supposed to only roughly relate the event in the comic in a more mythological terms so I've played very fast and loose with it. In this story they are already married and have one child because I want to show just how far Drake will go in his revenge. coincidentally, Una in the story is another feminine personification of the church (Una=one, as in one true church).
