Awareness of why you're eating what you're eating is key to a healthy diet. Learning what foodstuffs have what nutrients and the benifits to those nutrients helps you realize why your diet works, and therefore, the pros and cons of the different foods you eat.
Basically If you want to have pizza, have pizza. But recognize that pizza is a flavor food, so fill up on salad, then have a slice of pizza.
The sacrifice isn't as noticeable, but the weightloss sure is.
