Well today was the opening of my Final Year Show. Theres been such a big build up to it that the actual event was a bit surreal!
At the beginning of the show I felt depressed for various reasons, mainly the worry about what the heck I'm gonna do about jobs and housing in the near future, and naturally about my own work, which after Uni now makes me feel rubbish just looking at it!
It really becomes clear in times like this though as to what is most important in life! I felt so anxious and nervous at the beginning of the show, but over the hours, one by one, members of family started showing up. First my oldest friend, then Dad, then big Sister and last Mum. It occurred to me at this point that the only people I cared about seeing my work were these guys, and as soon as I heard *what was probably half sentimental* good comments from my family, I felt much better and happier for the rest of the evening. And through talking to an old family friend and former tutor, I also found a very promising programme which might be perfect for reassuring my fears of having somewhere to stay and work after Uni.

In other news, I watched the opera 'Carmen' yesterday, it was so awesome! They were filming it live from Royal Opera House around various 'big screens' in the UK. So I took a 3 min walk into town to watch it! Its weird being able to go back to your house to get drink/blankets during a stage interval! Very peculiar too was that one of my teavhers was there apparently, sitting behind me! I had no idea until he told me today, I think he was pleased that someone my age was watching an opera XD I was admittedly one of the few people under age 30 there :P

Anyway, Carmen is so cool! The characters and music were fantastic, and the main character, Carmen, was so sexy and free willed, I loved how she just did whatever she wanted! It was sad how that was her downfall in the end. I'm not sure if in the the time it was written you are meant to root for her, but I thought she was great and found the lead guy to be such a possessive jerk in the end! (He seemed so nice in Act 1 too XD) My favorite part by far was the little flamenco number in Act 1, awesome! I want to go to Spain now, the music was very atmospheric and gave off such a calm/warm evening sort of feeling that I associate with Spain! :P
