There had to be a medical professional in the story somewhere so here she is. Those of you who remember Sword of Kings might recognize her as Gloreaka's assistant, but now with a mane of wild pink hair.

Lon calls her a "medtech" short for medical technician. Not all human societies have the traditional profession of doctor as on Earth. The same training, even more due to the advancements in science but some cultures view as as technicians and specialists not a sacred profession.

You will see others call her doctor and that is a recognition of her education as opposed to profession.

As if all this matters because the conversations sound the same. Everything is translated from the original languages so cultural nuances tend to disappear.
