The human cultures here are different and unrelated to our own. These humans emigrated to the stars from Earth thousands of years ago before the re-beginnings of civilization in Sumeria. they are the descendants of the pre-historic high technology civilization that pseudo history loves to talk about.

They are not meant in any way to reflect on the practices or opinions of the current practices and beliefs on our own planet.

Their technology and medical knowledge are far in advance of our own and thus they hold vastly different ways of seeing things. They're not us nor are they meant as any commentary on our own world.

Aordians consider themselves to be virtuous. To many it is akin to a "holier than thou" attitude, so anyone appears too virtuous or suddenly conscientious they're compared to an Aordian.
Similarly if someone is obtuse or narrow minded they are compared to an Earther.
