"Single Cut" refers to the sword style that Vera uses. A single cut would mean she would unsheathe her sword, cut both her opponents and flick the blood from the blade all in one motion. It is because of this fighters do not bring a sheathed sword into the arena. It is considered an unfair advantage over a battle girl using any other kind of weapon. The blade of the primary weapon must be bare when the fight begins. Secondary weapons, if worn, can be sheathed. The rules can be weird.
