In some of my attempts to the comic you'd meet a giant hoof or two. They belonged to Tuvstarr, a moose cow who was the boss of the main characters. (Libraries tend to have someone who is chief of the library, but not all have a chief librarian.)

She was a moose because the idea of the boss being much bigger than the employees was funny. After all, many bosses has a certain distance to their employees.

In this sketch Mrs Melin is in a negotiation for a higher salary. When Tuvstarr asks what motivates such a higher salary, Melin attacks her, saying that she puts high goals ahead, like being the first stoat who has felled a moose.

She is promptly crushed by a concerned Tuvstarr.

She was dropped in the new version, because mosse might not even be sapient in this world. Ove the owl lost his personalty and job and became boss instead.
