Summer Fun - what if the anthropomorphic cast was more anthro?

"Anthropomorphic" means something like humanlike. Anthropomorphic animals are humanlike, but the humanity differs. Mickey Mouse is much less of a mouse than Bugs Bunny is a rabbit, so to speak.

The cast of my comic is very much animal in shape, but fairly human in mentality. It could have been different…

I chose the more cartoony animal forms because A, I'm not that good an artist, and they are easier to draw and B, when funny animals get too human you start wondering exactly why you are drawing a human. There are creators who find reasons - check out, say, the gangster webcomic Lackadaisy for a sample - but I didn't, really.

But here is a sample of how the comic would have looked if Sylvia, Martha and Milly were more humanlike. The choices I had to make in some ways reflect their personalities, how they are drawn in their "real" more cartoony form and my ideas about what human-form means. (I thought about not giving them shoes - a lot of anthro animals, otherwise fully human, go barefoot - but changed my mind.)
