I'm not sure if this is true for any paramedic's spouse, but Paul has a lot of pull…as we'll see later on in the arc. Getting Lauren a free ride is one of the minor things.

Also, I know a lot of people use that TV Trope of "What's the number for 911?" so I decided to lampshade it a little…and this is probably still overused, BUT less so than the actual joke. And Jix gets a free ride as she's an alien.

If you're looking at the TV and wondering if it looks different…then yes…it is. Their projection TV (the big ass one we're used to seeing) went out…as they're known to do, so they went to a flat panel LCD…it's also a really big TV, but not as big as the projection screen.
