Droids do have a sense of smell. Well, it's not in the same sense as a biological, rather they have receptors that pick up the smell molecules and they are able to tell what they are.

Dyonus should be showing up more in the next couple of arcs. Paul is off doing some late night runs with ambulances after he knew Lauren and the baby were okay.
