Now, security at a convention is NOT the same rent-a-cops. They're a step bellow. Mostly they're crowd control and have no real authority. They do put police at convention, but con security are volunteers.
Okay, so I sound quite negative, but the ones at certain conventions I've been to are assholes. Others aren't, but the ones that are are tired and wanting to assert their authori-tie!
And Lauren told her not to talk to strangers unless she got lost and found a con volunteer or whatever. Alice knows better.
