Is "hmph" a recognized onomatopoeia or did I make it up? It's definitely a real noise that you can make. Kind of the upperclass version of "pssh." Maybe a contraction of "harrumph". That would be "H'mph" I guess.

The fifth panel contains an excellent example of my tendency to juxtapose sophisticated modes of speech with mismatched slang and jive talk, often in the same sentence.
