Happy Japanese New Years

Hi everyone! I'm so sorry I've been so MIA lately! I've been so busy drawing comics (non computer ones for the contest) and working on the Japanese blog, it's so hard to do everything I want to! Plus my job gives me no vacations, so I could't really catch up on my art during the holiday season :(

Oh, to add more info about Osechi for y'all, all of the food has meaning because of either the color (the ones that have no description are usually just good luck because they are colorful) or the word itself. For example the Chestnuts above are called "kinton", and "kin" means gold, so money, voila.

Also, the seaweed, or "konbu," is associated with the pun "yorokonbu" because "yorokobu" means to be happy. And beans are called "mame" and the phrase "mame ni hataraku" means to work hard. etc, etc, etc. Oh yes and "kazunoko" actually means "many children" and is called that because it's a type of caviar with fish eggs all stuck together to make crunchy sticks, and since there are so many eggs they give you lots of children, or something like that.

Wow, longness. So yes I really miss all of you, I promise I'll take my time to read the parts of your comics that I missed. Then again it'll probably be more fun because I can read a bunch of pages in one go rather than waiting for the next page! Teehee!!!

So yes, happy 2010. This is the beginning of a year with lots of goals for me. My resolution is to submit at least 3 pieces to contests this year! Go me!

I will be bringing in a piece for review at a little magazine (hopefully small magazines can give the time for detailed feedback) but I actually have to write a piece for that first, ah! So many goals so little time. But then again, in Japan they say that the dream you had on January 1st comes true, and I had a dream my comic was in a magazine! So fingers crossed! What dream did you have on January 1st?

Thanks for stopping by, love you all!
