Otto does seem like the conservative sort who'd use an old robot shell
in lieu of wasting money on a new one. Crazy guy. I don't think his
bosses would approve, but given his status I doubt they confront what he
does given all the money he's brought them.
Having been a foster
kid, Otto probably finds the idea of taking something broken and making
it into something worth-while very appealing.
Just in case one
of you young whipper-snappers doesn't know what flipping is, it's where
you buy something – usually something broken or worn down – fix it,
and then sell it for more than the buying+repair costs.
That may seem kinda greedy of Otto since he's already making so much money, but he actually does it to keep busy.
