She can only take so much.  Remember, Sparkle ran away from home because of her lack of support and the verbal and mental abuse she received.  She's happier now, but those memories are still there, dredged up by situations like these.
 
When I started this issue, I didn't realize it would be on the same month as Mother's Day.  It's kind of apt that it does fall in May in that regard, as this story is about Eiderdown's mom, but I should also say that despite her being antagonistic, this isn't an indictment against mothers.  Really, you'll see why she has this point of view, and thus how, to her, she's doing the right thing.
