Finally, a reason. And a bit of a mystery. The boss was a teleporter?

Also, I wanted to make it explicit that, while they saw she could give birth to incredibly powerful kids, that Sparkle is not what they meant. Sparkle is not some god-level creature, after all. She's just someone with a powerful ability that is volatile but has very real limitations to it.
