So, this is an NPC in the town the PCs start in. Abigail is being chased by a Jack-the-ripper type bad guy and the PCs get to save her and decide if they want to keep her around as they adventure, or just send her on her way.

She has an associated story arc that I won't get into here, but suffice to say that keeping her around has advantages for the party later on in the adventure, but is not required.
