[222] Do You Speak Portuguese?

I just came back home after watching the Sigur Ros concert on Saturday night. I don't mean to be crude, but it was the most orgasmic thing I have ever experienced in the last four years. Their performance took place indoors so the sound traveled throughout the room in the stadium. At one point I closed my eyes and let the music envelop me.

It was an interesting experience going to a concert for this band - I typically listen to Sigur Ros when I'm alone or updating my comic when it's really late at night. It turned out that a lot of the other fans had these same sentiments. Imagine going to a concert for a band that is not normally played at big social events and the fans normally don't listen to the music with other people. One outspoken fan said, "It's like they've become too popular, I don't know if I like them anymore! I thought I was the only one and that they had written their songs for me!"

I just found out their songs aren't in Icelandic, instead it's a made-up language called "Hopelandic" therefore many people do not understand what they are singing about. But I still listen to their songs because somehow it evokes such a strong emotion within me even if their lyrics sound like some variation of the phrase "you slide along the floor".

The process they use is very similar to the way I make my comics. They just get together in a room and begin playing - without any prior planning. I could relate since I sometimes just draw out an idea that fits with the current story arc after planning out a scene in my head.

I captured pretty good footage of one of their songs from the "()" album and I'll hopefully upload the video in the next week.
