[233] Allegory of the Interweb

In the last panel, the line "There's no turning back now" references the freed individual who has left the cave and seen the sun for the first time. In the allegory, the sun is the light that casts the shadows on the wall; the sun is the truth. I was trying to make the point in this particular comic that Leona is what was on the other side of the online world and that he can not go back to the way his life was once he has met her - she has shown him a world worthwhile.

I'm not trained in philosophy so I'll take in consideration any criticisms if my interpretation of the allegory does not match your own. However, Plato's cave has fascinated me since high school because I always see the Internet as a modern representation of shadows cast on a wall because we are constantly shown images that could be a false reality.

I have nothing against the Internet in general, I have made a lot of friends here and I run a webcomic (obviously). I do my best to maintain a firm balance with my offline life and the digital world just to keep a grip on reality.
