This title and comic is dedicated to my love of Ray Bradbury's short story of the same title. If you're not familiar with it, it's about an automated house that lives on doing its normal routine after the family that once lived inside was killed by an atom bomb explosion.

In the story, the ash remains of the children playing catch are emblazoned on the wall. The scene reminded me of the song "We Will Become Silhouettes" by the Postal Service.

Somehow, I related the state of Leona's lonely apartment to that of Bradbury's empty house. The Sara Teasdale poem that is referenced in both the short story and this comic is beautiful and ends with the haunting note:

Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree,
If mankind perished utterly;
And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn
Would scarcely know that we were gone.
