I love drawing this comic.



I spent the weekend in Northern Portugal where I went sightseeing in four different cities in two days. The 4.5 hour drive started with a visit to the first leitao (roasted suckling pig) restaurant in all of Portugal. I spent Friday night in Porto, a beautiful city more modern than Lisbon and for the first time I actually felt like I was in a picturesque European setting. There were gondolas in the river bank and a violinist played music in the open air restaurant square.

On Saturday, I woke up bright and early to get on an eight hour cruise that traveled through the Douro River Valley. I saw many vineyards and tasted a sample of Port wine while on the boat. I traveled back to downtown Porto later that evening to return to my hotel. I drew a picture while I was riding the train.

Sunday was spent back on the road and I stopped by the college town of Coimbra where the young intellectuals of Portugal attend University. The school was established in the 13th century so it was very interesting to visit such a historical landmark. For lunch, I stopped by the coastal town of Nazare and had a bowl of acorda de mariscos (it was really good!)

Just as a heads up, I am traveling to Spain and France in two weeks. I haven't decided if I should update anything in my absence. Aw well, I'm sure I'll figure something out.
