889: Mike Cast Part Three

We stand on the precipice of the new year. With only hours remaining, there’s but one thing I can say to the year that was, two thousand and nine:

Just fucking Die already.

This year has been the worst of my life, if I’m being perfectly honest. A series of poor choices, and being put through the emotional ringer culminating in the loss of my father two weeks ago. There has never been, and God willing will not be for many years, a worse fifty two weeks than this one. I find myself incapable of even reflecting on it without a mix of anger and sorrow. I’m really, truly and fully prepared to move on and never look back. Rot in hell, demon steed. May the following year be different.

This week’s strips have been about New Years Resolutions. This is a tiny peek inside the mind of Alan, Suzie and Mike, and that’s fun to do on occasion. With that in mind, I’m ready to share mine with all of you: I resolve to bring Keyguard Active to it’s conclusion at #1000.

Let me hopefully forestall your objections: No, this is not the end of my cartooning, nor will it be the last we ever see of these characters. But lets not dwell on that now. We’re still several month out from the big one triple zero, so I don’t want anyone to be afraid. There’s a great deal of ground to cover between here and there, and I’d like to think I have some twists for you before it’s all over. The end is neigh, so strap in.
