Characters: Telion, Max, Zia, Song
Location: Castle hallway

Telion wins this round… but he wins it on Max's terms, which doesn't make him happy. To Zia, anything new is, by definition, fun, so she tries to cheer Telion up, with little success. In contrast to Zia's optimism, Song is on edge. Generally the more careful and practical of his servants, she becomes defensive when she perceives a threat to her dear king… but antagonizing General Max is not a healthy thing for a mere servant to do.

I've mentioned a bit of the Tadreisian conflict earlier, with the little Tadreisian bandit Westley's hatred of Kotherans. There's bad blood between the countries, even during peacetime, so Song is rightly concerned that a Tadreisian would be made the king's personal guard.

In other news:

Today, May 21, is an important date for KoH. Those of you who had read the comic on the old DD site may realize that this is the second anniversary of KoH! That's right… Two years ago I posted my first pages online.

For the newer readers who are wondering "Why the heck is she only on Chapter One after two years?", rest assured that there is a reason. After the DD site crash, I compiled the old pages on a SmackJeeves mirror site and began the comic over, with a better understanding of the story, the art, and comic making. So I've actually completed up to Chapter Six!

I would have liked to do special anniversary art, but my schedule didn't permit it. I'll try for something fun and extra later. In the meantime, let me say thanks for your support of KoH over the past two years, and I hope you stick around for more!
