Sorry for the delay for what is most likely the 50th time in a row.

Takes me awhile to come up with ideas.

Anyways, onto my review thingies I've been doing.

Red Dwarf: Back To Earth.

Recently the UK channel Dave announced that they were going to air three new episodes of the classic English comedy series Red Dwarf, a series I love. The series ended 10 years ago. I was ecstatic when I heard and was not disappointed with the resulting special.

Red Dwarf is a Sci-Fi/Comedy about a mining ship lost in deep space. A radiation leak has killed off the crew except for the lowest ranking crew member, Dave Lister, played by Craig Charles. To keep him safe until the radiation reached a safe background level, Lister was put into a stasis chamber for 3 million years. On emerging, the ship computer HOLLY resurrected Lister's old room mate Rimmer in the form of a hologram simulation to help keep him sane. Rimmer is a smeghead. They also discover that a pregant cat that Lister had hidden in the hold had been breeding for 3 million years resulting in an evolved life form similar to an extremely vain human, Cat.
Later in the series they find a robot called Kryten in the remains of a crashed ship, and he joins the crew.

The series concerns the daily lives of the crew, dealing with boredom in the ghost ship and fighting various space anomolies. The humour tends to be very light hearted and in typical sitcom fashion it has a laugh track, though the Sci-Fi setting is nowhere near overlooked and the series has some great original stories and concepts. One of my favourite things about the series is the great dialogue between characters that really gives them depth and is goddamn hilarious.
Back To Earth brought all these things back and I hope to hell that they go on to make another series.

I highly recommend Red Dwarf to comedy or Sci-Fi fans.
