In the early days of constructing the story, I felt it best to leave religions out of the equation. But cults aren't religions. They're way more fun.

Racie was another fun character to include, and not because of her extreme personality; she's the first fan-created character to show up in the comic! I'll admit, without Racie, I probably would have found a less fun way to end the episode, one that wouldn't end with the dissection of a giant insect.

And the Gormothyn… what a fun diversion from ghosts! I figured it would be boring if there were ghosts in every episode of the comic, and I also wanted to play a bit with my interest in cryptozoology, so I came up with a cult that worships a giant, extinct bug.

In any case, Episode 5 is over, and we'll continue on with Episode 6 now!
