Undoubtedly one of the most important aspects of drawing is influence. Everyone has something that influences how they draw. And if they say they don't they're a liar, and you should say that to them. Denying those that have had an effect on you is a real disservice not only to you but to the person you look up to.

With that said, one of the biggest recent influences in my work is "One Piece". Not the anime though. That's pretty unsatisfying, even the non-english version. I mean the actual manga, done by Eiichiro Oda. It's been a long time since I bought a book regularly specifically for the art, and I absolutely adore the way he draws characters and backgrounds. I also love the pacing of his stories and the fantastic, over-the-top action and fight scenes.

Admittedly, the series suffers from a lot of the Dragon Ball Z side effects from drawing out storylines almost way too long and bad guys who keep powering up more and more. But that seems to be more Shuieshia wanting the story to last as long as possible, and also Oda being a big DB fan as well.

But even still, One Piece is a series I really love, and drives a lot of my creativity. Give it a try, if you haven't already! It's a great shonen-type comic!
