In the time I've drawn comics, I've learned two very important truths:

1) Drama is easy.
2) Comedy is hard.

This is said a lot amongst scriptwriters, and it's an evil truth. Think about every comic you read or every movie you saw that tried to be funny. Chances are your giggle to non ration was pretty low. Not a whole lot of people can pull off comedy, and a failed joke is a very hard thing to recover from.

Drama, on the other hand, is a comparatively simple affair. The major drawback is you have to build your characters up first. If a character is unhappy, the audience won't give a damn unless they know the character and empathize with him.

Obviously, I'm not English major, but this is just what I learned doing this comic. I probably think my jokes are way worse then you think they are. That said, I the two pages with Roxy and Selene are probably the funniest things I've written in like, the past year. Mostly because I used to know someone who was just like Selene. I think everyone has at one point, though.

Oh yeah, one final word about comedy: Knock of the 'random' crap. Seriously. It's so rare that random comedy ever works, and the last time I've ever seen it work properly was Futurama.
