When in doubt: medicate

I in no way approve of the use of medications to deal with ones problems ( The occasional stiff drink may be allowed however. ). I think there are far better ways to handle severe trauma or other psychological problems than popping a pill. That includes ADD.

I can remember being a young kid diagnosed as ADD and having to take a pill every day in the school office in front of the secretary. And even though I doubt she would read this, all I can say to her is: sorry, but have you tried those things? Even back then I was smart enough to notice the effects those things had on me and hate it. I tried every possible thing I could think of to not actually take the pills, from throwing them in the potted plant when she had her back turned, to putting it in my mouth swallowing the water and then spitting out the pill once I'd left the office. Pretty quickly when she heard back from my teacher she realized I wasn't actually taking them. So for the next half a year it became a daily battle between us to see who could outsmart the other. To my credit, I only ever lost once that I remember off, and that was when she went to the length of hiding it in a piece of chocolate that she gave to me as a reward for actually "taking" the pill ( I didn't, I was hoping for a repeat of the spitting it out later trick. Needless to say she outdid me on that one. ).

I think by the end of the year we had one of the most talked about battles in school history.
